15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

MacMan is an Apple Authorized Service Provider and we are able to take care of this recall.

Apple has determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. Affected units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and product eligibility is determined by the product serial number.

Customer safety is always Apple's top priority, and we have voluntarily decided to replace affected batteries, free of charge.

What to do

  1. Check to see which 15-inch MacBook Pro you have. Choose About This Mac from the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner of your screen. Confirm your model is "MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)."

  2. If you have that model, locate your serial number, Choose About This Mac from the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner of your screen.

  3. Email your serial number to us at support@macmancrew.com.

  4. We will check the serial number to see if it is part of this program and contact you.

  5. To prepare your MacBook Pro for service, please back up your data.

  6. If your MacBook Pro is eligible, please stop using it and bring it to MacMan.

  7. We will fully examine your MacBook Pro to verify that it is eligible for this program.

  8. If it is, we will take care of the service recall in-house. No need to ship it off to Apple. Estimated time to repair is within 5 days.

This program is for battery replacement only. Please contact us at 715-834-7074 and speak with an Advisor if you would like to arrange paid service for any additional issue.
